Do any of you fine folks have experience with the Harrington and Richardson .22 revolvers, the 922 in particular? I am searching for a double action .22 that can be purchased used and fairly inexpensively for GP/truck gun purposes.

Any thoughts and opinions are really appreciated.

There are two areas of concern. First is the possibility of peening from dryfiring. The second area is the cylinder. Numrich still has parts for H&Rs. Value? $100.00 and under. Grips were still available the last I checked. Watch out for NEF revolvers too, they are H&Rs also.

My first revolver was a H&R 929 that I bought close to 30 years ago. It's as accurate as my Ruger Single Six and has never given me any problems.

I have a 922. My mother-in-law gave it to me this past summer. It was her father's. Hadn't been fired in 15 years or so. I took it home, cleaned it, oiled it, and it works like a dream. It's accurate, light-weight, and cheap to shoot.

I've had several H&R .22 revolvers and still own a 999. THey are decient enough for field accuracy especailly when used SA. DA tend to be hard and gritty. They also have a tendancy to have thier main springs weaken (shows up in DA mode mostly) so try before you buy if you can. It can be fixed/replaced but it's a pain to find the right fix. ( Gunparts sent me the wrong spring for mine.) Unfortunately, unless you find a real beater, H&R's are tending to go $150-$250 these days. For that kind of $ you can find a good Ruger Single six.
