This is a Kimber conversion I contracted with MD Labs. Just received it yesterday and haven't had time to really run it through it's paces. A full range report once I have had time to shoot it.

NICE!!!

Looking forward to your range report. Would you mind posting what they charge for the work?

I've heard good things about MD and am considering purchasing a stock 1911 to send to them. Thanks.

I've become somewhat jaded about all the hype bombarding us from all sides, like "best combat handgun in the history of the world" (Glock proselytizers are the worst, I'm afraid... and I like Glocks).

I'm sure (and I do hope, for you) that it's a great gun, and the list of specs looks excellent. I'll be interested in a range report, especially if you put it through a "Glock-like" hard use session. MD's braised plunger tube seems like a good idea, and it sounds like their attention to detail is good.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the great macro/micro pictures!

Good Evening-

Mad Dog (Kevin) is well-known to the people who have frequented the various forums out there these days.

Haven't seen any additional mention of what he is doing with firearms these days. Nothing on the Mad Dog web site that mentions firearms at all, with the exception of kydex holsters.

While I might sound like a "broken record," any news on whether these grips might be available for the SIG-Sauer P229?

Thanks much,

~ Blue Jays ~

Nice pistol!

Your STI trigger is even better than "carbon fiber"; it's "polycarbonate and titanium"! Doesn't that just sound high tech?

"Polycarbonate and titanium". Just rolls off the tongue (and sounds so much swoopier than "plastic and metal"... ;) )

Love that trigger; it's the same one I bought for my V-10, and was our most-commonly used racegun trigger at the shop.

Let us know she shoots!

Nice website, by the way.

TiGGer is... How should I put it? Different looking.

To each his or her own, though. That's the beauty of customs.

First off, I must say that it's a very nice pistol.

Having said that however, I have become very ho-hum lately regarding custom 1911s. When I see one in a gun magazine or see pictures on the web I think, "okay, exactly what's different with THIS one now?". There was a time when a custom .45 showed that you dared to be different, and liked personalized tools. Nowadays it's more like, "okay, how much money did you sink into yours?".

Granted, custom guns done right are a joy to own and shoot, but for me these days I'll remain content with the "sleeper" look. A stock pistol that's had a few minor internal tweaks, and that's it.

Ditto DSK...

....prefer the incognito look, with just a touch of fine tuning, such as all tool steel internals, noplastic or carbon derivatives of any kind, and the COLT name on my gun:cool:
