Happy New Year-Smith & Wesson Is Sinking

Out-freaking standing, private Pyle!

If we are successful in making them die, this will do wonders for our future, because of the proof in the pudding created that our boycotts are for real!

I hope they fold soon...... I wonder if there will be any press coverage if/when it happens.....

I'm on board with this whole boycott thing, but if this company goes down for the count, haven't the antis won (at least a little...this is exactly what they want for the entire industry after all)? I know this sends a powerful message to the other manufacturers. I guess it's sort of like an animal that chews its leg off to escape a trap.

How 'bout this, if *&* declares bankruptcy and reorganizes, are they still required to operate under this agreement? This has probably been discussed before, but I didn't catch it.

This will definitatly remind the other gun manufactures who really is boss. I for one is prowd that my wife owns a Taurus M85 and not a lady smith. I feel terrible at times I bought a SW99 over a P99 but keep telling myself that the SW99 is at least a Preagreement gun.

Sub Moa,It's really a myth about animals caught in a trap chewing their foot off. What happens is on old traps with no swivels the chain will kink and the animal will twist it's foot off.But new traps have several swivels and that eliminates that.Rodents are an exception though. They will chew their foot off.

The point of the boycott is not just to vent our anger at Snidely & Whiplash. It is to demonstrate to the rest of the industry that caving in to the government will cost more than resisting. Secondarily, it is a good measure of intensity of gun buyers' feelings on the subject.

If S&W does go belly-up, the tools and machinery will not evaporate, and the people with their gun-making skills will still be there. The S&W designs and processes will still be there. We should hope that in such an event, a new corporate entity can come along and buy these assets and hire those people and make more quality firearms -- there will always be a market for such.
