Happy New A-O 1911A1 Owner

I just got back from a trip to the range with my new Auto-Ordance Model 1911A1 which I picked up, cleaned and lubed yesterday. 100 rounds of Winchester White Box 230 grain ball down range. As solid, smooth and accurate as any gun I've ever shot. I know that Auto-Ordnance had a "sketchy" reputation back in the Numrich days, but the products under Kahr ownership are a whole different kettle of fish.

I've had one of the WW II models for a few years now and love it. Never had a jam and it's accurate. Very solid gun.

I've had the same experience with mine, read about the old ones having issues, but like you said since Kahr took over they seem to be alright.(in my limited experience anyway) Kinda nice being American made, reliable and affordable.

Being "Made in the USA" was one of my main reasons for buying it. That and authenticity of it. While it may not be absolutely 100% 1911A1, it's awfully durned close. Maybe a "1911A1.1". ;)

Back in the Numrich days, the metal used in the construction of those guns was soft as butter, almost like they were made in Taiwan or something.

I know I'm late, in coming in on this, but the auto ordnance GI 1911 is a terrific piece..I put over 600 rounds through mine and it shot perfectly right out of the box without a hitch..I have mine 3 years and would never be without it. Kahr did a first rate job on the re-enjinerring and quality of the upgrades of this gun.

The best 1911 I ever had was a West Hurley AO but truth be told the only parts original to the gun were the frame and slide.
