To celebrate Independence Day we went out and acquired a Ruger P-95 as a house gun that my wife can shoot without flinching. Any comments on this gun, especially on what ammo works well with it, will be appreciated.
*Take the slide off the gun and liberally apply a good oil like Breakfree CLP to the slide. Let it soak into the pores of that investment-cast slide for about two hours. Keep the slide oiled with a light coating while in the safe.
*ANY SAAMI or CID speced ammo is acceptable for repeated use. I like the 124 grain JHP +P's and the 147 grain +P JHP.
Enjoy!

I never liked Ruger but it's got the best value. I'd go with the P95 if I had a choice under $400.
BTW, i too celebrated post-July 4th with a new first pistol,... Sig 229
I got the Ruger for .. ahem.. under $300, Clownfish. Just curious -- what did the SIG set you back?
Thelma and I have a range day planned tomorrow, gonna put the P95 through its paces. Ah, yes.... a loaf of bread, a jug of wine, a box of hollowpoints and thou...
Well David, I think I got one hell of a bargain here in Southern Cali for my Sig 229 .40s&w. Total out the door(including BFSC) was $707. They didn't have a 357 model but could've ordered me one for a total of $750-$775. I'm gonna go trade the brand new barrel for a 357 somewhere
Everyone, feel free to gimme feedback bout my first handgun purchase,.. was i jipped or got a steal?
Happy Fourth of July! I also celebrated by purchasing a new Sig P220, but because I live in a Socialist state I have to wait until Monday to pick it up, according to the "Hey, let's piss off a bunch of armed rednecks" Bill of 1996.
I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time. The wife only wants to take it shooting if she has everything done, but no way I'm waiting 20 years so I'm gonna take Dad instead.
David, you're right. I haven't been able to get my wife out to go shooting since we got married years ago, but I keep trying...
