Happy Birthday USMC

225 years of being the most feared fighting force in the world! Today, amidst this election turmoil we need to stay focused. I pray Mr Bush will prevail. Either way this is just another battle, we cannot relax our guard if we win and we can not retreat if we loose. The war for our rights will not end in the year 2000. If defeated, do you think the anti's will raise the white flag? We must unite and recruit, we must watch our every action and hold each other accountable. Let me get off the soap box and say that I miss my fellow Marines of twenty odd years ago and the good and bad times we had. And to all of you serving today, I thank you for keeping the traditions true. For the rest of you fine folks remember the CORPS on Nov. 10th. SEMPER FI.....beertrucker-x

Just think about this. An absentee ballot filled out by an anonymous Lance Corporal floating around the adriatic sea in an LSD may have been the ballot that will put Bush and Cheney over the top in Florida.

YES!!!

I am no expert but I DO have an opinion.

As long as the Marines are THE MARINES, our republic has a future and hope of survival.

I am not part of that brotherhood, but have always liked the notion of the oldest and youngest Marine getting a special place on the B-Day.

I admit a curiosity on the TFL version :).

Regardless, You are GIANTS ALL! Thanks.

... and the Marines now have another Okie in their ranks, my oldest,as of 10-20-00.

COOL!

On November 1st 1921, John A. Lejeune, 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps, directed that a reminder of the Corps be published by every command, to all Marines throughout the globe, on the Birthday of the Corps. Since that day, Marines have continued to distinguish themselves on many battlefields and foreign shores, in war and peace. On this Birthday of the Corps, therefore, in compliance with the will of the 13th Commandant, Article 38 United States Marine Corps Manual, Edition of 1921, is published as follows:
“On November 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of the Continental Congress. Since that date many thousands of men have borne that name Marine. In memory of them it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the Birthday of our Corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history.
The record of our Corps is one which bears comparison with that of the most famous military organizations in the world’s history. During 90 of the 146 years of its existence the Marine Corps has been in action against the Nation’s foes. From the Battle of Trenton to the Argonne, Marines have won foremost honors in war and in the long era of tranquility at home. Generation after generation of Marines have grown gray in war in both hemispheres, and in every corner of the seven seas so that our country and its citizens might enjoy peace and security.
In every battle and skirmish since the Birth of the Corps, Marines have acquitted themselves with the greatest distinction, winning new honors on each occasion until the term “Marine” has come to signify all that is highest in military efficiency and soldierly virtue.
This high name of distinction and soldierly repute we who are Marines today have received from those who preceded us in the Corps. With it we also received from them the eternal spirit which has animated our Corps from generation to generation, and has long been the distinguishing mark of Marines in every age. So long as that spirit continues to flourish, Marines will be found equal to every emergency in the future as they have been in the past, and the men of our nation will regard us as worthy successors to the long line of illustrious men who have served as “Soldiers of the Sea” since the founding of the Corps.”

God bless the United States of America and success to the Marines!

As a former uniformed Devil Dog, I can personally attest to the Marines being the finest fighting force in the world. There is nothing finer. Dedication, commitment, preserverance, loyalty, courage, and valor. All traits Marines hold. I am saddned that some Americans take the values as lightly as they do, for they embody what I feel is the American way.

Pray for our country...
Remember our vetrans...
GOD BLESS THE CORPS!

Hi Folks,

Just a reminder that this month (20th-23rd) also marks the 57th anniversary of the Marines' capture of Tarawa and Betio on the long road to Japan and victory.

I hope that we as a country can be worthy of the price they paid in that and many other battles and jealously guard what they suffered and died to secure for us.

Though it seems poor treasure in light of all they have done, to all past, present and future Marines, I offer my thanks.

Happy Birthday Marine Corps. I wish for another 225 years.

P.S. Congratulations JHS!!

Happy Birthday and Semper Fi to all my fellow jarheads, leathernecks, devil dogs, ground-poundin' mother luvin' grunts!!!

God bless the Marine Corps and the Commandant.

God bless all the Marines who bought it for this Republic.

I wish their sacrafices were worth it. But honestly, the country I signed up to defend no longer exists.

Do or Die.

We owe this fine group of warriors our very freedom.

Atten-tion!
Present Arms!

My heart-felt and proud salute to the brotherhood.

Happy Birthday!

God so values free will that He gave us all the freedom to turn our back on even Him. If liberty is that important to God, it should be that important to us all...

Happy birthday to all you Marines (or as we in the Navy refered to them, all you passengers!) Any group that can brag of having in its midst the late Gunny Carlos Hathcock II is tops in my book.

May our brothers have a commander who understands that we are not supposed to be peacekeepers, but warriors who "locate, close with, and destroy the enemy." And may they never have to do so.

Semper Fidelis. Peace.

Happy Birthday to the Corps!

If only the people of our country would honor the lives sacrificed for freedom and be worthly of its continuing service.

If only the kids with backwards baseball caps and baggie pants knew what it took to secure their liberty to do so.

If only the left wing liberals could understand that their freedom to pursue their agenda was purchased with the blood, sweat, and tears of men who had no agenda, just a sense of duty to their country and personal honor.

If only the families of these men could see them one last time alive and whole. I pray the men who died in service of our country are not looking down at us now and doubting if we are worthly of the price they paid.

An OOH-RAH and a Happy Birthday to all of my fellow Marines, both former and active. And thanks to everybody who's wished the same.

Rob
