A very good way to test them against other primers is with a chronograph, using the same charge and bullets in both. Make up 30 of each, if you have that many old primers to spare. Chronograph both, alternating a magazine of 5 of one and then 5 of the other, recording the SD's for each string. The alternating is so fouling and barrel heat and any change in conditions is shared by both sets of loads. Add the SD's for all the mags of the same primer type, the take the square root of that sum (this is how SD's combine). Compare the two results. The smaller SD is producing more consistent ignition, for whatever reason.
