Handloads for Rem 700 VS

I have had good results in several 308 rifles including a Remington 700 PSS with: Sierra 168 grain match bullet, 42.5 grains IMR4064, Fed match primers, Fed match brass, overall length at max.

If you want to shoot squirrels or coyotes, please go with the Hornady V-Max 110gr bullets. Talk about explosive hitting power. I forget how much 4895 I used (somewhere around 45 grains, my reloading info is at the other house), but I do remember it listed it as coming out around 3100 fps.

I have also loaded up the Sierra 168 HPBT match moly with 41.5 grs of 4895 and again with 40.5 grs of 4895. The 41.5 grains worked good, I just ahven't got the chance to really shoot the 40.5 yet. I just ordered an 8 pounder of 4064, so that will be my next project.

A sidenote. I reloaded 450 rounds of winchester 147gr FMJBT with 43 grains of 4895 in CAVIM once fired brass for my M1A. I used those rounds in numerous National Match shoots and had really good results with it. I think they were a tad powerful though so I would decrease the 4895 by probably a grain next time.

Man, yes! We got some IMI 150 grainers and some buch of powder from Pat McDonald that is pretty close to ? H-380 or W-748 but not quite. Cost less than the Federal Match 168 but works very well. Plenty of Lake City and Federal Match cases around, just have to keep them all sorted out. It's easy my friend!
HTH Oh yeah, in some loads those CCI primers are the best

I have a 700VS, and have had great luck w/ Sierra 168 MatchKing and 165 BTSP on top of H380 or AA 2520. No moly for me, thanks.

My own pet loads are Sierra 168 HPBTs pushed by 42 grains of 2520 in Federal brass, zapped by a CCI magnum primer. Max length (but check the individual rifle for this!) Accurate as off the shelf Federal Gold Match.
