Handgun Two Tone Finish

Greetings Everyone; I'm very interested to know everyone's opinion on the ever increasing popularity of FACTORY two tone finished handguns. I welcome all reply's
whether it be positive or negative towards
this trend. Maybe, I'm the only person who
still prefer's the traditional blue; as
opposed to the newer (and more expensive)
taste of most gun owner's? I'm not interested
in comment's regarding the tennifer process,
hard chroming, or any other aftermarket finish!!! :) So, give me your honest opinion-
likes and dislikes.

Best Wishes,

I appreciate a stainless gun for the benefits of stainless, and I dont like a shiny or light-colored slide, so two-tone makes sense to me...

My SIG P220 is in two-tone, and with the checkered wood grips, it's a mighty handsome looking piece. Carry in a nice Don Hume H726 rig (open front) so it goes well with the coat and tie.

That's all icing on the Kuchen, because it shoots great too!

I like them. My sig was two tone and my kimber will be too. But I do agree, the black part needs to be on top! Sig had the silver on top and it did fuzzy up the sights on a bright day.

Danny45; I agree with you, in that the "black part" needs to be on top. :) I have the P226
and the Browning Hi-Power Practical model.
The finish'es are vice versa, or something
like that? The BHP is much easier to acquire
the sight's in daylight hour's!!! :) However,
I'm very fond of both pistol's.

Duotone, two-tone... sounds like those "goldtone" watches sold on QVC late at night. How appropriate.

Whenever I see a two-tone 1911 I can't help but conjure up images such as this Hemi

What a waste, what a shame.

I like two-tone pistols, and am pleased with my Practical Hi-Power. Besides, my wife immediately recognizes a convincing reason to buy two-tones: they look like something special. This saves a quite a bit of explaining on my part. ;)

For myself, I can take them or leave them. Two tone finishes, like triggers with holes in them or front slide serrations don't bother or impress me in the least. Given the choice, I would opt for more $$ to go into a smoother action than cosmetics. I mean, if the two tone finish adds $$ to the gun, I'd rather not have it. OTOH, if that's the only way it comes. oh well.

I've had to pass up a number or excellent deals on new and used guns because of the dreaded two-tone look. I've tried to warm to the idea, but I just can't. It looks gimmicky and boy-racer-ish to me. To induce nausea, show me a two-tone pistol with front slide serrations...

I dunno about other pistols, but the Sig P220 two-tone only makes sense to me. It's a relatively cheap way to get excellent corrosion protection. They nickel plate most of the steel parts and leave the frame the original black which is definately cheaper than nickel plating it. And the aluminum frame isn't going to corrode anyway.

On some guns it's tacky, on some it's not.
I have a Hi-Power Practical and a two tone CZ-85 Combat. On these pistols I think it looks pretty good.

My FireStorm Compact 45 is Dual-Tone. I would have preferred all stainless but they are not available. One good point of a dual tone in something like my 45 is that when you buy aftermarket mags, you can get whatever you get a deal on because both match very well. :)

Stainless wheelgun with black rear sight, red ramp front site, black grip. Looks like it should be used to hold up the clown car in the circus. I know, have some. I really prefer good old fashioned 4xxx steel in deep blue finish.

Sam...stainless guns are for people with bladder control problems

When I see factory two tones, I think of someone who can't make up their minds as to whether they want an all blue or all SS. I say sh!t or get off the pot-make a decision.

Mike
