Handgun Safety vs G&A

If anyone has read Guns & Ammo in the last six months you'll notice they have a new handgun writer named Brian Pearce. In almost every picture of Pearce he is clutching a handgun pointed off to the left or right with his finger ON the trigger.

This REALLY bugs me! Having spent many hundreds of hours teaching youngsters to shoot safely, its really infuriating to see a national gun magazine showing photos where the most elementary safety rules are simply ignored. Not only does the writer choose to show his disdain for basic safety, but apparently the editor and publisher don't care either.
And people READ this rag. Young people and new gun owners pick it up and probably assume its just fine to walk around clutching a pistol with your fingers on the trigger and pointing it wherever you want.

I quit subscribing a long time ago when it became obvious that this magazine was merely paid advertisment for the gun companies (have they ever found a gun they didn't think was just great?), but I still see it around and this latest yahoo they dug up is just icing on the cake!

I agree with your point about safety. Have you emailed them to point out the error? Complaining to us does the reading public no good. :)

I just went through the May through July issues. Pearce was not bylined for "Strictly Handguns" in July. In all photos of gun-handling in these issues, all was correct for the situation.

I generally read the New Products tests for info as to what's out there. The writers' opinions are of little interest, compared to length, weight, cost, ballistics, etc.

I don't have any recent issues so perhaps they have cleaned it up. I still have litle respect for a magazine that would let pictures like this slip through for as long as they did.
