handgun in Philadelphia

A lady business associate is going to Philly on business and she would like to take her revolver with her. She has a Georgia CCW. Will Pennsylvania reciprocate on the Georgia permit? If not, can she legally keep the revolver in the hotel room?
Thanks in advance.

Go to this web site and check the links under firearms laws:

I usually print copies for each state I am traveling through and keep them on me when traveling. If in doubt, contact a state attorney in the area into which you will be travelling.

AFAIK, Pennsylvania does not recognize out of state permits. I seem to recall that Philadelphia does not even recognize permits issued in the rest of the state. Assuming she is driving, I don't think many (if any) states along the way recognize out of state permits, either.

As I have said before, I never advocate that anyone disobey the law. But I think it is possible that discretion in some matters may eliminate the need to become involved in legal questions.

Ricky T; If your friend decides to travel
through the great state of North Carolina,
have her heed some much heralded advice:
NO out-of-state LEO with proper credentials
better be caught with a handgun here; as I
recall an incident posted by the NRA in the
American Rifleman magazine,of an out-of-state
off duty police officer being stopped by the
North Carolina State Patrol on a routine traffic stop in or around the Durham area.
Homeboy, was sked if he had any weapons in
the vechile; and when he replied Why yes,
I'm a police officer in New York state (and
presented his credentials); a search of the
vechile was initiated. Upon the defendant
surrendering his duty weapon; the "trooper"
promptly arrested our friend, stuffed and
cuffed him and carted him off to the CJ.
Needless to say, when he finally did get
before some "irresponsible judge"; he was
found GUILTY, the weapon confiscated, and
a large fine was imposed. After being released from custody, the poor LEO contacted
the N.R.A. Legislative Action/Legal Defense
Fund Colmmittee for help. After a lenghty
delay, they were able to get the conviction
overturned, and his duty weapon released
to his employer.

This is a prime example of how important our
contributions to the NRA really effect our
live's. That's why everyone needs to sign
up their whole family; cuz' without them
and other pro-gun organizations we will
surely fall. Also, anyone who hasn't already
registered to vote; by all means do so. Gun
owner's need to voice their opinion at the
polls, and defeat Al Gore!!! :D

Best Wishes,

PS: Sorry, guy's didn't mean to rant.

That was the case at one time (thank former mayor Ed Rendell for that...)
However, the state prohibits any such local pre-emption anymore.
So, if you've a carry permit in PA, you're legal in Philly.

Our best bet for repriocity is Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) HR 407 which would require all states to recognize other states CCW's.
Call 202 224 3121 (Capital Bldg.) and urge YOUR Congressman (woman) to support Rep. Paul's excellent bill.

Hi, Ezeckial,

Thanks for the update. I am originally from PA and had a CCW at the time I left, but it has been longer than I care to remember.
