Handgun dilemma!

Hey yall. I am currently looked for a new handgun. The two I have narrowed my search down to is either a Heritage Rough Rider or a Glock 19. I know that is about as apples and oranges as you can get, but allow me to explain. The reason why I though about a Heritage is b/c I used to have one, which performed flawlessy and was a ton of fun, but ended up selling it to my brother. I started out shooting single-action sixguns; my 1851 Navy Colt clone, and I also have a Uberti .357 Cattleman. I have worked and maintained these guns extensively, and feel extremely safe in saying I know them inside and out, as they all consist of the same type of action and parts. So does the Heritage, which would be a cheap and fun alternative to play with when I can not afford range time with the .357.

However, on the other hand, I could go with the Glock 19, and have a modern service pisto. Like I said I am not making my decision based on which is better, but on the fact that I have a background with single-actions, and know them, whereas I do not with the Glock. From what I know, Glocks have to be shot for someone to become proficient with them, as any weapon, albeit I have heard that for some its easy with a Glock and others it is not. I have fired the sub-compact .40 and the Glock 17. I though the 17 performed well, given it was the first time I had ever fired the weapon. Any insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

If you are in the price range of a glock you are also in the price range of a Ruger Single Six. Do yourself a favor and handle one, or two, or ten. I know you have experience with the Heritages and like them. That's fine and I can't argue the fact. If all I had was money for a Heritage I'd buy one and shoot the heck ouuta it. But man, if you have money for a gun 2 or 3 times better than why spend the money on a Heritage. Doesn't make sense.

i've never handled the heritage but uberti makes a great 22 revolver called the stallion. it looks just like my uberti cattlemen. i got mine on sale before xmas for $229.

Apple and watermelons I think.;) Both are nice you just got to make up your own mind. Don't be scared off of the Glocks, can't be to hard to shoot with, I think about half of PD forces use them. 9 mm are fairly cheap and fun to shoot. Have fun with choice, and let us know which you got.

What's the main purpose you have in mind for the gun? If it's for home defense or carry, go with the Glock. Take a look at the M&P 9 also. If for SASS, cowboy style shooting, or hunting, the .357 revolver is the better choice, IMO.

I really thought this post had to be a joke until I read the whole thing. Seriously, I can't even believe I saw Glock and Heritage in the same sentence. To each his own, but if you want a single action .22 revolver and you have the money, then get a Ruger. If you like the Heritage then you'll love the Ruger and you'll wonder why you ever liked the Heritage.

Now if you want a gun for something else besides plinking, then get the Glock.
