Ok-- my collection is as follows -- Ruger MKII Scoped--S&W 4043tsw--Redhawk scoped----Gp 100 6" ---

case recommendations? individual cases or one larger case for multiple ??

Thanks in advance

mostly to and from the range--- as well as hunting trips-- looking at the pelican -- possibly the plano-- but likely something nicer

I have both individual cases and cases for multiple handguns and long guns. What I use depends on what I am taking with me at that time.

One thing I strongly suggest is that all muzzles in a multiple handgun or long gun case face the same direction. I have cases for multiple firearms and all muzzles in each layer are facing the same direction. The case is positioned so all the muzzles are pointed at the backstop before the case is opened. The case is positioned so all muzzles are pointed at the backstop when the firearms are put into the case. My safety rule is any uncased or unholstered firearm will always have the muzzle pointed at the backstop. Some ranges also have this as a range rule and will not allow a multiple handgun or long gun case where the muzzles of the firearms are not pointed in the same direction.

I have a couple pelicans. They are fairly bulky and they are not ideal for storage. Also fairly pricey

However, I could throw my most expensive handgun off a moving train while inside one of those pelicans, and it would not be harmed. the case is about security, not just the type of security that comes from a padlock

Cases, range bags...

There are many top range & firearm cases compared to 10/15 years ago.
A few great brands include Pelican, Plano, MTM, Docosil(check spelling).
For my handguns, I just buy the large/scoped handgun case for each firearm.
They range in sale price from $5.00-10.00.
See; www.midwayusa.com www.Natchezss.com www.NRA.org www.policehq.com www.cabelas.com .
A quick note too that some "egg crate" type gun cases can & DO absorb CLPs, greases and/or gun oils. It may stain or soak into the foam.
Keep that in mind when you clean or service a weapon prior to storage.

I use an aluminum case from ADG, my only complaint with it is that heavier pistols tend to slide towards the bottom. However that stopped when I started using a gun sock in combination with the case. The 2 pistol case(which I have) would not easily fit two pistols with the muzzles in the same direction. It pretty much just fits two full sized pistols.

FWIW I would probably buy it again if I had one pistol(1 pistol+mags fits nicely), but for multiple pistols, I'd either buy some other brand or a couple more nanovault200s from gunvault.

While the nanovault only fits the pistol(Out of your line up it would only fit the 4043) its slim design would make it easy for me to put many of them into my range bag if I were so inclined. Not sure if gunvault makes anything larger than the nanovault200 for transportation.

Paranoid and frugal !!!

I too have many styles of cases and have to admit that I am somewhat private and protective. Progressives call that being paranoid. There are times when I don't want to use a gun case that looks like a gun case, so I use a brief case that I have gutted out and relined with foam panels. I pick these up at yard sales for little or nothing. I not only have room for the handgun but ammo and speed loaders or whatever and can be locked. .... ;)

Be Safe !!!

@Pahoo, I hear where you're coming from. I picked my range bag because unless you're looking particularly closely or know the maxpedition brand, it just appears to be any other messenger bag.
