What is best hand gun cleaning kit?Everyone I buy never seems to have right size rods or adapters all are to long.Need one for all calibers.

Decent cleaning kit

I recently picked up a universal 35 piece kit at Walmart made by Winchester that comes in a wooden box and has most everything you will need; rods, brushes, mops, patches, etc. It does NOT have any oil or cleaning solvent. It sold for about $15.00.

The one I most often use is a universal cleaning set. It comes with brass rods in several different sections and two different diameters. It also contains several different caliber brass brushes.

When you wear the bristles down of a brush of a particular caliber, you can simply buy more brushes, often packed two or three to a pack.

Get a Dunk-Kit from Cylinder and Slide, a bore snake, a wire brush, a nylon brush and a high quality lube and that should cover most of your bases pretty thoroughly.

The Otis is the way to go for a multi-gun multi-caliber kit. Hands down #1 choice. Boresnakes are great... until the string breaks. Search about that topic and see what pops up.

Walmart has some decent kits from about $15.00 - $20.00. That's all you need for most shooting. Some guns, like O/U shotguns may require some thicker gun lube that won't come with these kits. But, for handguns and most rifles you've got what you need.

Oh, a boresnake in the calibers you shoot would be a great addition to your cleaning kit.

I remember years back, A gunshop client of mine who shot daily to stay sharp with his little model 60. He used to take off the grips and drop it in a plastic tub of gasoline, or kerosene, I forget which, overnight. He then would blow it off with a little air, and put a couple drops of oil and he was good to go. That was in the late 70's before they had those dunk kits
