I recently bought a Colt 1911 off of Gunbroker and after cleaning it up a bit and checking the function, I noticed that when I rack the slide and then release it, the hammer follows it to halfcock. If I remember right, this is caused by a sear that has been ground to "short".
Is that right or is it something else. this is on an Ace model, but I assume the hammer and sear are of the same working arrangement as the .45. I did not have a round in the chamber, and I don't think thats the reason either.
Thanks
