Hamburgers and Shakes!

Moving right along... while we're on the topic of ads, who remembers S&W's classic "Thick is great when it comes to burgers and shakes but what does it have to do with handguns?"

I thought it was a great joke on R#G#R with their fat revos and autos! hehehe

I loved that hamburger and shakes ad. Ruger has to make their cast frames thicker to achieve the same strength S&W gets from their thinner forged frames. But when Ruger tried to claim that bigger was better, S&W's ad people cleaned their clock.

I enjoyed that ad too. It should be pointed out that Ruger started that particular battle, with an ad that showed their GP-100 laying next to a S&W M-686. The ad copy attempted to make an issue of how much thicker (and, by implication, stronger) the Ruger was.

Of course, knowledgable readers already knew that Ruger was comparing apples to oranges...or, more precisely, castings with forgings.

I dont know - I thought they were going to open a new fast food chain - the Gun Nut Hut...
And the GP100 framed burger was the HAPPY MEAL.

Looked good to me! :D

How 'bout this for an ad ?
"Eat lead & die !"
Ooops... WRONG century ;)
Would've worked in 1880 though.
