First, before someone threatens to pull my man-card, this is for my daughter, not me. :D

Second, yes, I'm serious. Ladies, I need some help. Men, go grab your hunting gals and ask them.

The problem: my daughters have long hair, and we are prepping for a hunting trip. The oldest has been in the woods with me for years and the next in line is getting ready to go. The biggest issue with lots of hair is how to clean and condition it, without it smelling like perfume (which negates all the scent free washing we do), and without turning it into a giant birds nest. In the past, I've used the normal scent free shampoo/conditioner from Bass Pro and my oldest fell in line, but she always had to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to brush out her hair afterwards, something not required with her daily stuff. I'm trying to find something else to try that would not tangle their hair as bad.

I've looked on the aisle in the Commisary for something even hinting to be scent free, but to no avail.

For her sake, and at the risk of much insult to my manhood, go easy on the replies...;)

Scent FREE ?!!! I use my daughters strawberry scented stuff, it drives those monster bucks WIIIIIIILD :D. Just kidding, I just use Pert 2 in 1 and good ole Ivory soap. If she's that worried, there's always scent blocking gear available.

If there's any possible way for her to work the wind and hunt into it or across it, the type of shampoo won't matter.

I dunno. I've always worked the wind and never really worried about my "aroma". :)

I think your best bet is the scent-free shampoo that you tried and then they should braid it. That will keep it from getting tangled up. They should only un-braid it when they can wash it with their regular stuff again.

After a few days at camp, I just spray the scent blocker stuff on my head and soak down my hat, but I am a guy and just don't care....

I take a bath and use baking soda as soap. Leaves no scent and absorbs any for hours into days for some people. I also use it on my clothes. No scents or brighteners for the game to see.

Tell her to try using the regular scent free shampoo/conditioner like you use, but follow up with one of those clear "no frizz" products, which are usually unscented. That will take care of the tangles without adding scent. (I like Pure Shine Frizz Remedy from Hask, but there are lots of these products out there.) Makes long hair much easier to braid, too.

OK, so it semms I'm the only long-hair in the discussion.

My ponytail hangs past my shoulders and I use an unscented shampoo/body wash like Hunter's Specialties brand. Then tie the hair back in several ties to keep it from getting tossled (I may have my mancard revoked for using the word "tossled")

Another option is a "Free" or "Sensitive skin" shampoo and conditioner, as these usually don't contain perfumes.

I can't believe i just gave hair care advise on a gun forum. My mother would be soooo proud:rolleyes:
