Had The Greatest Day Today...

Today my Dad suprised me and brought me to the LGS, Gunhawk Firearms. Had a fun time! We saw all kinds of guns and I completely changed the way I think of guns I didn't like before. To rattle off a few(Or rather, All) I saw:

Walther P22(2)
Walther PPQ
Walther PPK(Original, not the PPK/S)
Sprinfield XDm(3)
Kimber 1911(Do not know which make/model)
Glock 17,21,19,26,27
Ruger SR9, Mini-14
Unknown bolt action .22s(2)
Remington R-15
AR-15
Bushmaster M4
Saiga 12
Taurus Judge Public Defender Poly(Carried by employee)
Taurus 80 series pistols(2)
Henry repeater rifle(Chopped down like the one in Zombieland)
Beretta PX4
Sig P250, 239,(I think) SP2022
HK P2000
HK Mk23(Also carried by an employee)

I didn't mean to ramble, I'm just really pumped, mostly because everything that I had my mind on buying one day was changed. I was thinking of buying a Remington 870, now I want a Saiga, thought a SR-25 would be cool, now I want a Remington R-15, the HK P30 I have Always thought couldn't be out-cooled was even with the Walther PPQ I looked at today.

Anyone else ever done that, thought one gun was the greatest ever, then you see something that is even more awesomer?

Is "awesomer" a real word? Because that would be awesome if it was.

Irregardless, yeah, I think we've all been there. It's worse when you end up owning a gun you had high hopes for, only to find out it doesn't live up to the hype. In fact, I blame Arcadia Machine & Tool for doing that to me twice.

Hey Gunnut 17, everytime I go to the gun shop I see something that I'd rather have. It never ends my friend.

Another vote for "awesomer" :)

I occasionally suffer from sudden dehydration when I walk by the gun section at TriState. They requested I have a towel and glass cleaner on hand to clean up the face smudges I leave behind on the glass walled display case, too.

Dunno about "awesomer," but I can state for the record that "irregardless" is not a word. :)

What's a "Henry repeater rifle"? Are you talking about their lever action, a pump action (I think they have a pump), or something I don't know about?

Another vote for awesomer, but when people say irregardless, it makes my butt twitch ... regardless of how they use it:p

Glad you had a great day … ~ you got the fever ! ~
can happen with cars, motorcycles, etc… Worst of all with girls …
A great philosopher once said …"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." … Spock, from Star Trek:p:D.
The trick is knowing when a thing (or person) is right for you. Sticking with that is most pleasing.

Until then, Enjoy the fever !

......for the internet grammar Nazis, from Wikipedia.

Irregardless is an informal term commonly used in place of regardless or irrespective, which has caused controversy since it first appeared in the early twentieth century. Most dictionaries list it as "nonstandard" or a word which has become socially acceptable. "Nonstandard" means the word is a colloquialism, not "incorrect" or not a word.

Awesomer, altho not in the dictionary, is a word I understand completely.

IMO : "Diggy" looks like the present participle adjective form of the verb "to dig"... Do you diggy gun shows or dig them? Either or both is acceptablish. :)

If diggy were a verb, I think it would suggest that "Gun shows are diggying." would be proper.
Then again, you’re the one making it up, so it’s your choice to also make up special forms for it. :D

Hey Gunnut17, did you get to handle any of them?

Hey Gunnut17, did you get to handle any of them?

Nah, but I should've asked, I wanted to put to rest whether a few of the guns that were in there

I don't mind waiting till next time, though, the people at Calibers let me fondle the Uzi and MAC-10.:)

I did get a peek through the scope they had on the R-15 on the counter.

That’s good too … save something for a future trip.

Besides… right now, most things won’t fit your hand properly and would probably feel clunky to you. What feels clunky today might fit perfectly in a few years.

That makes sense, you should see a picture of me holding a friends 1911, so heavy that it was tilting off to the side.

I love going to a gun store and getting to see stuff in person. It's a really great feeling that can make my whole day better. I think all us gun guys and gals are like that to a degree.

Just went again, they had a few new guns on display:

-Marlin rifle(the one that can be stored in its own buttstock.)
-A few Hi-point pistols
-Walther pk380 (I think that's what it's called)
-S&W M&P 9mm(Both full size and compact)
-XDm compact and competition models
-Remington 700(Possibly 2-3)
-Remington 870, one with sidesaddle shell holder
-Something chambered in .308

Best time I ever spent waiting for a pizza in my life.

irregardless

an erroneous word that, etymologically, means the exact opposite of what it is used to express, attested in non-standard writing from at least 1870s (e.g. "Portsmouth Times," Portsmouth, Ohio, U.S.A., April 11, 1874: "We supported the six successful candidates for Council in the face of a strong opposition.
We were led to do so because we believed every man of them would do his whole duty, irregardless of party, and the columns of this paper for one year has [sic] told what is needed."); probably a blend of irrespective and regardless. Perhaps inspired by the double negative used as an emphatic.

.

irregardless

Hey, Paulie (Sopranos) said that for 6 seasons and no one said a word:D

Back OT, glad you had a good time, I work across the street from the local gun store and tend to wander over on my lunch breaks to drool a bit:p

I too had a sad experience with an AMT handgun, a "Hardballer".

William Rehnquist once interrupted the argument of a lawyer who dared to use the nonstandard word irregardless before the Supreme Court. “I feel bound to inform you that there is no word in the English language irregardless,” Rehnquist said. “The word is regardless.”

Gunnut17, I remember eagerly looking through many Shooter's Bible editions that my older brother bought before I had any money to buy them or magazines, and drooling over many of the guns.
