Had my LCP hard chromed

I sold my stainless LCP gen2 as I wasn't terribly impressed that the barrel finish was wearing.

After missing its size, I picked up a new LCP gen2 and sent it off to Metaloy to have it hard chromed. I had a kel tec P3AT with a hard chrome slide that never showed wear after years in the pocket.

Pricing from Metaloy included pin, recoil rod, barrel, and slide at 90 shipped back. Turnaround was one week back to me.

Crappy picture, but great refinishing from the looks of it.

That seems like a reasonable price to me. I have one that has lived in a pocket holster for several years and has been carried in all weather. I have many rounds of all varieties of ammo through it, and it looks its age. It still works perfectly though.

Nice looking job.

Considering the gun was from Buds at 160 new, it was a decision revolving around cost.

My reasoning for going for it was hard chrome is one tough finish for scratches and I'd like to keep the LCP for a long time. I realize hard chrome is less resistant to rust compared to the nickel NP3 finish, but NP3 has a yellow tinge to it, the reality is hard chrome is great at rust prevention. The picture doesn't do the color justice. It is really sharp looking with a faint bluish silver matte finish.

The money is gone but I'm happy with it.

I got a beretta pico for pocket carry. I can buff the stainless slide for any major scratches, and they sell replacement poly frames if that gets beat up too.

Great turnaround time for that hard chrome. Looks great.

My pocket is not a showcase so the well worn finish on my early 1st gen LCP means nothing. Concealed carry means exactly that, concealed from view. What counts is reliability. Scratches? nothing else goes in that pocket other than the DeSantis Nemesis holster my LCP lives in. So, no scratches, just worn finish. Which has absolutely no effect on the 100% reliability of my EDC pistol.

Hard chrome is a darned good rust-preventative finish.
That's something a pocket gun DOES need, as summertime sweat will eat the blued finish.
