H1000 in .338 w/m 225 grain

Has anyone used h1000 in their .338 win mag? I looked for data and all I could find was for the heavier bullets in that caliber. I loaded a few of 225 Hdy sst's with 69 grains of h 1000, got a great pattern, but the bullets had a good bit of drop at 100 yds, compared to my normal loads of the hdy 225 and accubond 225. With those I used h 4350, and the group was about 4 inches higher at 100 yds, over the h1000.?????????

Too slow, and or not enough barrel. Probably need a medium/slow powder. Such as the H4350 that you have been using.

I cant offer personal 338wm input but I can tell you that H1000 is hands down my go to powder for shooting 300WM with 208 Amax's . I frequently shoot 600 yds with a buddy who shoots 338wm and in chatting handloading with him in the pits his go to powder is RL19, with 4350 being a close second.

My best load for 338wm and 225 gr bullets is with 4350. Is there some reason you want to change, other than the endless search we all have for the "best load".

Thanks for all the answers.338 & h1000

And to answer the last post, yes, it the quest for perfection. If I can get a "clover leaf" at 100 yds, why can't I possibly put all in the same hole so someone would say, that was only one shot.!!!!!

If your already getting clover leaf groups I have to ask....what is your rifle and is it in a good stock? Bedded? Are there any tricks you haven't tried on the rifle? You might already have the perfect load. Just need to tweak the rifle a little. Or perhaps the seating depth of the bullet? So many variables, what have you done in your quest for the best.
