H.S. Precision tactital stocks

I just got a .300 win mag Sendero and I am thinking about an H.S. Precision stock for it. I want one that is of conventional(ie no vertical grip) design but w/ adjustable L.O.P. and cheek rest. My question is: Do these H.S.P. stocks have the same dimentions as the stock that comes on the Sendero, or are they all like the PSS stocks.

P.S. I heard the U.S.M.C. opted for a thinner profile stock?

Thanks , m16

M16,

Just for your info - your Sendero has a HS-Precision Varmint stock. If I remember correctly (catalog is at home) the tactical stocks have a thicker fore-end, with less of a slope to the end of the stock. They've got a website - www.hsprecision.com - take a look and give em a call.

PS - these guys have some pretty good stocks too - www.mcmfamily.com

M16 sounds like you want what you have but with adjustable LOP and cheek piece. The new USMC stock, the McMillan A4, is actually heavier than the previous stock, the McMillan HTG, that they used. The HTG might fit the bill for what you are looking for except it doesn't have an adjustable chheek piece but does have a higher monte carlo style if the height is what you are looking for. Check them out at www.mcmfamily.com

Check out HS Precision too. They both make great stock and just a piece of advice, don't believe that HS Precision stocks don't need to be bedded. They do. You can't amke a stock that will fit every rifle perfectly. Mine used to rock around the stock until I got it bedded now it's stone solid.

Can I ask you why you want those options?

I can see adjustable cheekpieces if you're stock is too low (or your scope is mounted too high), but a permanent non-adjustable stock has less to fail on you. Regarding LOP, that's can be important if you're in varying climatic conditions and you wear anything from thin shirts or thick, padded clothing (as in very cold climates).

One thing to be careful with when it comes to the newer, heavier stocks. Try carrying it around for a day and see whether you would rather reduce the weight and carry other gear. I'd keep the slimmer and lighter sporter stock as movement in the bush is easier and it's not as fatiguing (sp?).
