I've got an old H&R Topper model 88 12 ga shotgun with a broken transfer bar between the hammer and firing pin. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on disassembly and reassembly for this shotgun? Looks tricky the way it's all pinned together.
Let a smith handle it. Those pins are pressed in with a multi ton hydraulic press. Besides being a cheap way to assemble a shotgun, it's also a good way to dissuade amateurs. That may be a good thing.
It is quite tricky. It's easy to take apart If you can get the pins out. Once the last pin pops out, the entire trigger group falls apart. If your the adventurous type and have the time to do it, here ya go...
Thanks. I guess I'll give it a try; the nearest gunsmith is about 110 miles from here and in another state. I'll get parts from Numrich. Thanks for the web link on the assembly/disassembly.
