H&R Topper choke & value?

My neighbor was cleaning out his parents house and came upon a 16 ga 30" bbl. H&R Topper. He asked if I would clean it up and if I would be interested in it. The metal is in 95% with a couple minor blems on the barrel and carry wear at the bottom of the receiver. The bore cleaned up to be a mirror. Wood was brush varnished (which stripped off easily) and had very few dings. The barrel is labeled "MADE IN USA 16 GA CHOKE."

1st question: What is "choke" equivalent to in today's terminology? Muzzle ID is .6435" if that means anything and if doesn't feel like much choke with a tight patch.

#2: What would be a fair price to give him? I'm seeing a few 16 ga's not selling for <$50 or selling for around $115 on Gunbroker.

TIA,
Carl

If you like the overall appearence I would say offer $75 bucks. The bore for a cylinder 16 is .663 according to a wiki hit from google.

16 Gauge choke constrictions:

Skeet .004”
Improved Cylinder .007”
Skeet 2 .010”
Modified .015”
Improved Modified .020”
Full .028”

Yours would be Improved Modified.

Thanks

That would make it improved modified, which feels right. I'll probably pick up a variety of shells for it and leave it at the cabin to augment the Savage 340.
