Hi. We are looking at the 20 gauge H&R Pump shotgun for trap shooting. Anyone use one of these before? I hear they are compatible with Remington 870 parts. Is this true and how good are they overall?

I have one myself!!!bought it brand new in March of 2010. dont know if its compatable with rem 870 parts but ive shot about 10 rounds threw it and i love it!! it shoots nice!!

The H&R/Marlin/Remington Pardner pumps are as as good as any pump actions with the exception of a Wingmaster. They are 870 "clones" and all parts interchange except barrel. There is no better value for the $$$ and highly rated. Here are 10 reviews from LEOs from Police Link for their own Pardner pumps and as you can see they all love their guns http://policelink.monster.com/products/products/3296-hr-1871-pardner-pump-protector Remington is doing us a favor by importing these great guns.

The 20, properly choked, should do just fine for casual trap shooting from the 16 yard line. If you stick with trap, and want to get competitive, you'll find the need for a trap-specific 12 gauge to become a necessity.

Enjoy your gun and have fun

I use a protector model for shooting skeet with my brother and it is so smooth I can hit the skeet 4 times before it touches the water (18" Bbl)
