Looking at NEF youth Partner pump in 20 ga. for one of my grandsons. Tell me what you think, advantages & disadvantages.

One of my favorite topics - the Pardner Pump - worth every penny and a fantastic value. Very well made and reliable. Nice fit and finish.The only negetive (for many) is that it is made in China. Remington/Marlin/H&R is doing us a big favor by importing these shotguns which are 870 clones. I love mine as does most every owner. I think you are right abpout that bighoss. The question is whether you can even get another barrel for a youth 20 guage pump?
 
good point. I think that a remington 870 barrel would work except the mag tube is a different length than a standard 870. I talked onine with a fellow that makes spacers for the norinco hawk 982 which is also an 870 clone but those are 12 gauges. it SHOULD be possible though with the 20 gauge partner.

personally while I think they're good guns I'd just spend the extra $$$ and get an 870 if I don't like how the H&R comes from the factory.

Good inexpensive pump action in 20 ga. Heavy enough to not have any significant recoil. It is a sturdy shotgun. The LOP might be a bit long for a youngster depending on their age.
 
I have a problem with jamming issues. Mine tries to throw 2 shells up into the chamber resulting in a jam. I have tried everything to resolve this issue to no avail. I just keep it as a truck gun when gone fishing. Buy something else.
 
nefprotector. Have you contacted NEF about that jamming problem and what did they say? If you don't mind saying, what did you try?
 
This shotgun is intended to go to my Colorado grandkids( three of them ) to start on. Had originally planned on sending the youth 20 ga. pump I have ( Chas. Daley ) out there but have decided to keep it in Florida for my last grandson here to start on.
Walmart has one in stock for $ 159.00. It feels almost as heavy as my Mossberg 535, so it shouldn't kick to bad, even if it does it won't kill them. Appears to be a fairly well built gun.

You posted about this before I believe. Did you send it back to get fixed? Since as a general matter these guns are as reliable as a pump-action gets, I would have retuned it. The reviews I linked above speak for themselves. I've never had a problem with mine. Send your gun back to Remington (that who does the customer service as I understand it.)
 
Yeah but they told me that all aftermarket parts (springs, followers), would be replaced. I can make it work. But I wouldnt trust it for much else. Since then I found a Great But used Winchester 1300. Never a problem.

Its still under a 3year warranty. so I might send it back after I replace the original parts. Very dissappointed.
