Find below a listing of articles and sections, part of H.R 4900, this from thomas.loc.gov . While “modernization” of BATFE might be desirable, it appears that a whole lot more than that is required, and one wonders as to whether this proposal might be simply another Dog and Pony Show, designed to give the appearance of action, when there might not be all that much happening, one wonders.

For instance, in the articles and sections, there seems no mention whatever of corrective action directed to the elimination of the egregious antics that have come to typify the operations of BATFE and the differently named agencies, is there any difference, that have come and gone before this newly named outfit appeared on the scene. Some of these antics are as follows: The harassment of individuals at Richmond Virginia area gun shows, other locales too, the phony case brought against John Glover, based on the incompetence of a BATFE agent, the charges were eventually dismissed, with prejudice, the prosecution of Albert Kwan, a case where BATFE agents admitted to tampering with physical evidence in a criminal case, Mr. Kwan was acquitted. Then there were the antics of the previous Director of BATFE, connected with significant cost and time over runs in the construction of the new BATFE headquarters in Washington, D.C., as well as the $60000 conference room table he tried to purchase, did he succeed, and the million plus dollar/year special personal security detail he sought, something that no other agency head had ever sought, it goes on and on.

Seems that the foregoing are not anything dreamed up by some arrant street level agent(s), rather they are the knowing and deliberately adopted stunts perpetrated by people at the very highest levels of agency management. Funny thing, there seems no mention in the following of correcting the existing mess and mess is a polite description for what this agency is, along with NFA records it is also involved with, which appear to be an even worse mess.
