H&R 12 Ga. single shot shotgun

I have an H&R 12 Ga. single shot shotgun. Has any one of you, or do you know someone that has had problems with the shell not ejecting when you open up the gun to put another shell in? Shots great...it just won't eject most of the time. :(

Not sure about your specific model, but some shotguns don't eject, they just extract. All shoguns extract, ejection is a bonus. Is your gun broken, or was it made that way? Has it ever ejected?

H&R pardner singleshot shotguns all eject unless you've had the ejector converted to an extractor. Try this: try ejecting as many unfired shotshells as you can to see if it's a weak or broken ejector. Then if they eject fine, you've pretty much narrowed it down to a particular brand spent shell sticking or chamber needing polished. Hope this helps.

H&R Pardner shell ejection problem

I own a H&R Topper 88 (Same model as yours but slightly older version I think).
When I first used this shotgun with Winchester sport loads I found that they would sometimes not eject properly upon breaking the action open. After experimenting with different 12 gauge loads I found that the metal base of certain batches of cheap ammo will expand unevenly in the chamber, causing them to get stuck. I would venture to guess that if you try some higher quality shells in your H&R you will find that the issue is resolved. I have yet to have a Remington shell (High or Low brass base) get stuck. In fact the only kind which ever did not eject properly were the Winchester Super-X sport loads. Since I have also had numerous problems with different Super-X ammo in general, this did not surprise me. Hope this info is helpful to you. IG
