H&K usp compact .45 magazine question.

First of I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Rich and want to say that this is a great site. It's very informative.

My question is in Regards to my H&K usp compact .45. I bought it used two weeks ago. It's very acurate and shoots nice. I encountered a problem with it last weekend though. After reading about Wolf ammunition on this site I switched target ammo to the old trusty winchesters. Once I did this I encountered some problems. When firing regularly it shoots great, but if I were to rapid fire the last two rounds the last round gets stuck and doesn't get seated in the chamber. Any suggestions. I was looking into getting new magazines but was first wondering if anyone sells a "rebuild kit" instead. I was thinking mainly just new springs instead of new magazines all together. Your input is apprecitated.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

Try cleaning your mags. Since it is a used USP, it may just need a good clean 'n lube ;) (That goes for the pistol & the mags) If that doesn't do the trick, I think HK mag springs can be purchased. Not sure if there are after market mag springs for the USPs. Good luck. :)

Welcome to Thefiringline.com.

Has this problem only happened with the one type of ammo? Only on the last round from the mag? Both? Do you happen to have more than one magazine, and does it happen with both?

Sorry for all the questions, it just may help diagnose a problem if we get more information.

You may try a new mag spring as they aren't too expensive. Wolff sells high quality springs. You can hit the link below to get to their site.

Let us know what happens.

It happens only on the last round on both my mags when rapid fired. It's only happened with Winchester rounds so far. Doesn't do it with the cheaper wolf rounds. I have cleaned both mags but haven't lubed them. What do you use to lube and do you just lube the springs on the mag?

Thanks again,
Rich

The only failures to feed i've had with my USP 45 compact were with WinClean ammo. There was a thread a while back in which at least two other people had the same problem with the same ammo. Its happened to me 2 or 3 times. I stopped using Winchester ammo in it, and have had no more problems, so far.

My .45c has never failed (but I've never shot Winclean through it). The 1 failure I had with my .45 Tactical was also with Winclean. That's about 2000 rounds ago. That was the one and only box I ever bought or will buy. :barf:

That's the ammo thats it's jamming with. I'll try other brands as well to see if it helps any. Didnt have the problem with the cheaper Wolf rounds.

Thanks,
Rich

More than likely your mag springs are bad. Call HK up, they'll ask you to send them the old ones, and they'll replace them with new ones.
They should do this free of charge.
Turnaround should be about 1 to 2 weeks.

WinClean is crap ammo, and my fullsize USP45 doesn't like it, either.

I had one stovepipe in 150 rounds of Winclean the very first time I shot my USP45...and from my experience with HK, one stovepipe is a big deal. First malfunction of any kind in over 1K rounds fired through both my USP's.

Regular USA white box is great stuff, though. Switch to that, and save some money in the process :)

I bet your gun is fine, just avoid WinClean.
