I've been thinking on HK smgs.
Does the Mp5 or UMP's charging/cocking lever move when a shot is fired? And if it does, when the last shot is fired will it lock up(like a bolt catch)?
I'm asking it on the forum because I'm sure someone have fired an Mp5 (LE or Military)
Thanks
Max

ok. than can someone tell me what happens when the last shot is fired and how you reload the weapon?

You replace the magazine and pull back the charging handle, at least on the G3 and MP5

Actually, on the MP5 9mm, you lock the bolt back with the charging handle, THEN you drop the mag and replace it. :)

On the 40 S&W and 10 mm versions of the MP-5, I believe there is a bolt hold open on them like on the UMP.

Regarding the reloading issue, you reload when you want to, not when you have to. Sometimes tracers are put in to alert the user that it's near the end of the magazine. That's why it may be better not to fully load a magazine since it's harder to seat a fully loaded magazine than a partially loaded one. It all depends on your training.

I used the G3 and MP5 in the millitary, they were and still is exellent weapons of war. Ill still go for the G3 if i had to pick only one.

when in a MP5 teh last round was fired the bolt rst open blocked by the magazine follower...to reload you must drop the empty magazine, replace with a full and push back the charging handle...
the charging handle not follow the bolt when moving, but you can use it to block the bolt forward to clean and inspect the barrel ...

luchs,
"when in a MP5 teh last round was fired the bolt rst open blocked by the magazine follower..."
According to the operators manual(on biggerhammer.net) this is not true.

My 9mm MP5SD does not hold the bolt open after the last shot. As originally designed, there was no hold open feature on the MP5.
