I would appreciate it any H&K owners can tell me what they find works best on the bore for cleaning and for lubing!!and what not to use because of the polymer on the gun thanks for any input.

I use whatever happens to be laying around. The USP doesn't know any different.

Actually, I generally use Hoppes #9 and FP10 for lube. This is what's laying around. I also use the Lubriplate grease if the gun is going to be sitting without any attention for a while (which is most of the time).

I'd use whatever you've been using on other guns. You're aren't going to hurt the frame of the USP.

It has been awhile since I cleaned it but I think that Gun Scrubber spray on cleaner might damage whatever H&K uses for the red dot on the safety lever. Other than that I never had any problems or heard of any either.

Thanks gentlemen for the input, I will look into what cleaners can damage the markings on the frame. thanks again, longjohn

I've been using Hoppes' No.9 and oil and in my humid area (NJ) I've still gotten rust in the barrel with a liberal application of oil in the bore.

For what it is worth, H&K recommends MPro-7 cleaner and the "Ultimate Gun Lubrication" from the same company. I use those products for all guns, not just H&K pistols. Skorzeny

I use L&R ultrasonic cleaning and lubricant solution in an ultrasonic bath.[/quote]

Hi DDS: After reading your comments and the reviews by others on ultrasonic cleaners, I bought a Branson B5510 ultrasonic cleaner with heater. I purchased some cleaner from Crest but was hesitant to use a dip lubricant. When you lube guns in the cleaner, how do you get rid of the excess? Thanks in advance.

Since my M16A2 was cleaned with CLP when I was in the Corps, I figured I could use the same thing for my USP 40 Compact. Works great on both weapons....

KleenBore #10 has SOOO little smell that my wife even lets me clean my USP40C in the living room! I then follow up with SuperLube teflon oil (also essentially scent free) and Lubriplate on the rails. I have yet to see any signs of oxidation anywhere. Sometimes I think that I might be going to too much trouble ... but my USP has never failed to do anything. Don't know if it is just an awesome design or if the care has something to do with it. Either way, I don't intend to find out!
