H&K Hammer Locks on USP

I was looking at an H&K USP compact at the store the other day and noticed two things different.
First, the trigger pull seemed heavier than I ever remembered in the DA mode and there seemed to be a lot of creep in the SA mode.
The second thing was the hammer lock located inside the grip. It looked as if it runs through the grip and through the trigger area.
Is this lock in any way responsible for the mediocre trigger on the new USP compact?

No it’s not. The agency I work for ordered in a bunch of USP Compact in .357 SIG for evaluation a while back and they came from HK without the locking device installed and these pistols had the same “creepy” trigger the standard USP has. Mine has gone away with about 500 plus round and it is inspected by our tech. every 90 days when we go to the range. It’s just the gun as far as I can tell.
