H&A Ranger 2

I wonder if anyone might have an idea of when this gun was manufactured and what the price might be? It is a Hopkins & Allen Ranger 2 nickel plated single action pocket pistol in .32 Rimfire.

Welcome to the forum, from a fellow Virginian

Photos of the revolver would be helpful.

There are some folks here who know a lot about this revolvers.

That Ranger

Appears to be in excellent condition.

I think I would check online with some of the auction sites to see what they are selling for.

Manufactured I think sometime between 1869 and 1875 maybe a little latter depending upon how long it took them to shift out of the rimfire business.

I went to the Gunbroker to get an idea of what these things are going for.

There are several listed for prices which seem to be in the 100.00 to 170.00 price range. I want to emphasize that none of them have any bids implying that the price may be too high.

None of them are in the condition of the revolver in the photo you uploaded. Most of them look more like Bluejackets rather than Rangers. One of them with an opening bid of 150.00 has a broken trigger spring. Not disclosed in the description but pretty obvious from the photo.

I will follow these revolvers to see if the auction ends in a sale, noting the price.

Even that my not be an accurate indication of the actual value of the piece since there may be bidders who, for whatever reason, are prepared to pay a higher price for the item. I have done that myself because I happen to like these little revolvers. I enjoy working on them and figure that my learning is worth something.
