They're very good for keeping kids and friends that don't know any better from picking up your loaded handgun. They will prevent an intruder from grabbing your gun while you're sleeping. It isn't a substitute for a gunsafe as they can be broken into with a prybar or heavy duty screwdriver. They're like padlocks, they'll keep an honest man honest, but they won't stop a determined thief. Overall they are a good investment.
