Gunsmith Recommendation in Southern California

I have a Mosin Nagant 91/30. I want to put a scope on it. I don't have the tools or skills to do it right. I would appreciate recommendations for a good gunsmith in Southern California, especially in Orange County.

What I want is a modern scope on my 91/30. I have a Bushnell Elite 10X40 with 1" tube. Ideally I like to mount that on the rifle. I've been looking for a PU mount with a Weaver rail but I haven't had any luck thus far. I've found a source for a PE mount with with 1" rings. It looks like that's my only way to put my Bushnell Elite on the rifle. Another reason for the PE mount is that my rifle seems to be an ex-sniper. It has 2 sets of PU mounting holes that were plugged and welded. It's a bit strange to have that many holes. Anyway that's my situation. So I would appreciate recommendations for a good smithy. Thanks.

I can save you time and money - Advanced Technologies sells a low bolt handle that YOU can install and a scope base that works out very well - all of which you can do by following directions - I did one - you can too!

Great rifle, I had the same problem two years ago so I went to a friend with a machine shop. I bought my mount rings first and took them and the rifle to the shop, he machined a block of aluminium about 3/4" X1" x4" long to fit the curve of the barrel then cut the groves in the top for the mounting rings positioned it at about 45 degrees to the left where the eye re leaf was right for me then marked it, drilled and taped the barrel, done. The whole processes took all of 30 or 40 mins. After sighting in the first thin I shot was a nice 8 point buck. Cost me $40. and worth every penny. I have to shoot with my left eye but that was very easy to adapt to and with a small head movement I can still use the iron sights. Good luck and enjoy the Nagant.
