Hi guys and gals,
So I still consider myself a newbie to gun purchasing. It also seems I gravitate towards discontinued or rare... so I'm always stuck with "internet sales".
So far, I've purchased all my guns, except one, through gunbroker. Yeah I never have any luck locally. When I do find my wants locally, they are always WAYYYY more then gunbroker. Hense no local purchases. And my gunshows quests have always been a bust.
Anyway, my latest quest is another discontinued item. I can't find it locally. Any time I do find it on gunbroker, it is either WAY beyond my price point or somehow the seller sells it locally... grrr....
I have found some on Armslist, but I have heard horror stories of out of state sales and scammers, so frankly I'm too wary to try and buy there unless its a local sale. So nada...
So my spouse was helping me look and found a listing on GunsInternational.com. Is this just another Armlist, or is it safer like gunbroker? I know "safe" is a relative term. Anything over the internet is suspect to a point. They don't have a feedback system, but they say they vet people and take transgrestions seriously, so they are "minimal"... deleting accounts and such. That the feedback system can be flawed?
They say you need to talk to the seller and get references, trust your gut.... Ok so who is to say he does not get his brother, best friend, etc... In you guys opinions, is this enough? Is it relatively safe to buy there? I found an awesome gun. NIB and this is extremely rare for this one. I touch over my price, but I might be able to get the spouse to allow it, esp since its listed as NIB! First one I have seen in YEARS! The seller is "verified"
If "gunsinternational" is safe, if done correctly, what do you guys recommend I do to protect myself? How would you handle a transaction properly to be sure you get the gun? Pay a bit more for FFL to FFL? Have the FFL handle the $ and the go between. (mail the money order in care of the FFL addressed to the seller... seller brings gun to ffl who gives $ and ffl ships to my ffl?) Honestly, If I mail the seller a money order there is no guarentee they won't cash and run... Whats the golden rule for these transactions? I don't want to make a careless mistake.
Thanks for your opinions and sorry to ramble. I hope this is not a rehash, but "search" gave me a bunch of irrelavant results...
