Gunshow Question

Ok this weekend is a big Gunshow in Louisville, KY. I love just across the river in Indiana. Can I legaly buy Long guns at the show and bring them across the state line? WHat about pistols. If it was a store I know the rules but the law here is a bit unclear. So whats up.

Under federal law, the interstate sale of long guns is legal in face to face transactions. It was made allowable nationwide by the FOPA 1986. Prior to that it could only be done in contiguous states. The interstate sale of handguns is prohibited. It does not matter if you by from a dealer or individual, you can't legally purchase a handgun in a state that you are not a resident of. There are other state laws for some to consider, if you were a resident of Ca. for example, but those do not apply to you.

I too am going to the Louisville show, there is also a Dallas Market Hall show this weekend.

Correct me if I'm wrong about buying from a licensed dealer: You can buy in your own state or in an adjacent state, for a handgun. You can buy in any state, for a long gun.

No Dealer license: Face-to-face, long gun okay in any state. In home state only, handgun okay.

I'm only talking Federal law, here.
