Gunsafe space

Hey guys , I just was able to get new 22 gun safe installed in my house ... It dose not hold as many long guns as thought .
I was hard pressed to get 12 guns without have the bolts hit ... mostlly sks's ak's , ar's10s k31's and a few CZ's were going in this safe .
I also had a about 30 hand guns , there in box's and cases so they will be easyer to stack in the upper and lower areas .
Looks like I might need 2 safes .
I was thinking of getting some gun socks , anyone ever use them to keep the guns from bumping .
I have more guns than I though ...LOL

22 gun safe almost universally known as "22Nylon Remmy's" or what ever the number is.
Turn it into a chest style and you could get 44 into it.:D
No question gun gun sock's would help in close quarters.

I lost count after 30 ...once it gets in your blood your hooked for life , either turn back now or will see you at the next gun-aholic meeting .
Look behind the stocks of the long guns ...theres plastic cases stacked 6 high ...I ran out of room ...LOL

I have a few customers that do exactly what you're wanting to do. As soon as we delivered the safe, they removed the lower interior and started stacking the guns like firewood (in gun socks of course).

With the racks, a safe will typically hold 50% to 75% of its stated capacity. Witout the racks, a safe will typically hold 100% to 150% of its stated capacity.

I'd suggest that if you do this, you get some of those tags that are used to identify keys in key lockers. I use the circular ones that have a metal rim. Write a brief description of the rifle on the tag and use a safety pin to attach it to the sock. Then you won't have to waste a lot of time looking for a specific rifle. In the sox, they all look alike.

I know a guy who had the same problem(not enough storage room in safe) So he choose a corner in the basement, built 2 block walls and a reinforced door. Now he has firearms secured and room for more :D

I don't use gun socks in the safe. I do however now have to take all the bolts out now after my dad sent me a gun.

I do know a few guys that use the gun socks and can tell you exactly which one is what gun because the put them in there exactly the same way all the time. Where I am always changing mine around depending on what I am shooting when. Right now my 223 remmy 700 and my 308 target rifle are in the front as I am working on loads for them.

My gun safe would not hold the stated number of long guns with the existing internals. I replaced the internals and that significantly increased the storage space. My handguns are mostly attached to the door liner on plastic pegs. As for socks, I use long socks or knee socks to protect the stock and part of the reciever area. That'st right, regular long socks. I use short regular length socks to store handguns. I also open the bolts and let then stick further back. I transport all guns with the socks on and in a hard care. Might look a bit strange for some folks but I take no notice. Might want to take a second look at these long socks before you throw them out and don't forget to wash then before use!! ;)

Be Safe
