Guns too high

IS it just me or are gun prices getting thoroughly ridiculous these days?
everytime I go to a show I say, "that's it then - I've been to my last gunshow - these people are just a bunch of greed heads - Ive bought my last gun!" But dagnabbit! something followed me home anyway.

But seriously, aren't they pricing themselves out of the market in this economy?

obamascare 2013 may be over but the post scare inflation is here to stay. they get used to selling high and they don't like going back to normal so things usually stay a good 10% higher than they were before. gun shows are not great places to get a deal anyway. everything is overpriced. the only advantage is you get a selection you don't normally get because of the traveling vendors.

I'm just getting miffed because last month Steyr 1895s were selling for $120 and now they are all priced at $275 and up. what happened there?

Gun shows no longer appeal to me unless I truly have nothing else I want to do on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. And even then, it's more to browse, maybe find an odd trinket or book or rare ammo. You can typically find a better price (and tax free) online or in a private sale.

A bigger concern to me is on the on-going SERIOUS ammo shortage, which is clocking it at over 7 months, with no end in sight....

Gun shows have always been overpriced so nothing new there. The whole frenzy might be over but people still value their firearms at the "scare" prices still for some reason. Same thing for the ammo. Things might be on their way back to normal in the LGS's but not quite there yet.

I never saw them go back to the way they were. Saw one in my LGS yesterday that wasn't taken care of very well and it was going for somewhere over $300 (close to $400 I believe) can't remember the exact price because I put it back on the rack almost immediately I was so disgusted by the first digit.

My LGS has hardly any guns I want in stock, nor can they get them. Looking at going to a show and buying what I want, not paying shipping+ffl fees. Show = $75 less w/o fees.

I haven't been to a gun show in a year or so. I'm finding other resources to practice my hobby. Private face to face sales on Armslist is like going to a local gunshow every day, with the option of bypassing all dealer tables, and it's free!

Too high for some, but not for the "market." From what I've read and what I've experienced, manufactures are running at near capacity, have large back orders, and the popular stuff flies off the shelves.

I did a walk-through of Gander Mountain yesterday and, YES, prices are too high on their guns. I've noticed a 30-50% price hike across the board since the 1st of the year. Must be trying to recoup some of that money they spent on their fancy gun range. The counter jockies used to be quite busy - had to take a number to get service. Yesterday I had 4 of them ask if they could help me as I was silently browsing their gun cases.

Prices too high, no one is buying. They are going to have lots of inventory to liquidate come December. :D

1. That's not always the case - there are stores out there with reasonable prices.

2. We have a sticky thread on top about these issues.

Please use it and thus closed.
