Precision. I'm assuming that someone called the police, and that the guy has a good inventory of his firearms. Tell him to wait a couple of days, then call the detectives and make sure that those stolen firearms were listed in NCIC. Tell him to be the "squeaky wheel" and to make darned sure that the guns are listed as stolen in NCIC. That is extremely important in recovering the guns and is a step that is sometimes overlooked by agencies.

Listing a firearm or other stolen property in NCIC is an extra step, done after the report is completed, and sometime it falls through the cracks. It takes someone double-checking to make sure it is done.

This thread also highlights the importance of having a good personal firearms inventory. Manufacturer, Model, Serial Number, accessories, caliber, barrel length, all that records-keeping that we don't like to do or put off till tomorrow. If some of us haven't updated our inventory lately, this might be a good time to get that accomplished.

Man, this is the second or so robbery thread I've seen recently. How often does this happen?

I store my guns inoperative in the safe; bolts/recievers in separate areas. That way, the goons will at least have to spend some money to use them to harm someone else, or spend a good long while combing my place over. Oh, and I don't tell anyone about my guns or exactly where I live until I've known them awhile, or it's necessary. Most robbers are tipped off (inadvertently) by people we know. "Need to know" sucks, but them's the brakes...:(

I am so angry to read this and beside myself. I cannot begin to express my regret for your situation. I hope they are found. And tried. And incarcerated.

I'm guessing this is the theft that WFAA, channel 8, reported tonight. They didn't state that the theft was in Murphy, just in the metroplex, and the firearms were stored in a climate controlled storage unit. The news video of the unit showed cases of ammo that the thieves left. Betting someone did too much talking about the firearms in that storage unit as the thieves knew which one to hit. Hopefully most will be recovered.

Sorry to say but you friends guns are probably in Mexico by now

Likely the case, unfortunately. Have heard of several rashes of gun thefts in addition to this.

Downside of the demand for them going up? I really hope not

A gun shop owner in a different state has a confidential second location where he keep some his guns.

He only allows escorted access to the location after he has gotten to know somebody.
