The new movie coming out prompted me to get the first CD of the 1964 TV series,,,
In the first episode a woman opens her overnight case to show this,,,
What an indicator of the times past.

A break-open action revolver, a pack of cigarettes (unfiltered), and to top it off,,,
The lady is in the first-class section of an airliner.

Can anyone identify the revolver from this image,,,
It looks like a .44 caliber bore to me.

Looks like one of those Iver Johnson "Safety Automatics" as they were called, though I dont think they were made into anything that large of bore.

I think your sense of scale may be off-kilter. Look at the cigarettes and the gun's trigger guard. I think it's a .32-caliber 1-1/2"bbl "bicycle gun"; the 5-shot cylinder backs this up, as almost all common top-break .32 revolvers were 5-shot, whereas most .44's were 6-shot.

You're probably correct Chris,,,

You're probably correct Chris,,,
I just thought it looked about the same as my older .44 bulldog.

Saw the movie when released back in August (wife, daughter & I loved it). Also bought the first season of the original season (jury is out and not looking too good for the TV series).

Takeaway? After seeing the movie, daughter (15 y.o.) said she wants to try shooting. Fortunately, got the place and the guns to oblige her and hopefully light a permanent spark. Have to say, I have 3 daughters: 35, 33 & 15 (same wife of 37 years). All three are cupcakes with top tier intelligence. 15 year old is sophomore in HS, already has several college courses and credits under her belt and is a long distance runner, participates in cross-country, track & softball. Hope she adds shooter to her resume.

(Yes I'm proud).

Its a .32 (most likely) possibly a .38 (less likely).

Your standard smokes measure out at a bit over 0.3" in diameter.

Looks like a .32 to me. Might be a .38S&W (angle, old pic, not 100% clear to me). It is NOT a .44 or larger bore, based on the size of the cigarettes in the picture.

As well you should be. Nothing is more important than our kids and the effort we put into parenting. She is doing well because you and your wife did well. For that matter, far too few kids have two parents any more; just the longevity of your marriage is a fine example to set.

My wife and I just celebrated our 32 year anniversary. We have two grown daughters that make us proud, too. The younger is a fine shot with a pistol, too; the older is safe and comfortable with guns but is not an avid shooter.
