"Guns Я Us"

""Palm Desert Councilman Jim Ferguson said police told him two men with handguns shot and killed each other.
"I think the obvious question everyone has is who takes loaded weapons into a Toys " Я" Us?" he said. ((( INDEED! WHO MAY OR MAY NOT? ))) "I doubt it was the casual holiday shopper."
Ray Turner, 20, said he was two aisles away when two women began shouting and screaming at each other and he had a clear view of the fight until a crowd clustered around them. Both women had children, he said.
"We thought it was just a fight and then someone yelled: `He's got a gun! He's got a gun!' You really couldn't see nothing because there was a crowd," Turner said.
Rafael Gomez, 11, said he and his father had been in the store about 20 minutes before the shooting but were in a nearby Pizza Hut when they saw people pouring out of the store screaming.
"We just saw them running and crying. I was kind of scared," Rafael said. "We got lucky."
Toys " Я" Us issued a statement expressing outrage over the violence.
"We are working closely with local law enforcement officials to determine the specific details of what occurred," the statement said. "Our understanding is that this act seems to have been the result of a personal dispute between the individuals involved. Therefore, it would be inaccurate to associate the events of today with Black Friday."
Palm Desert is a resort town about 120 miles east of Los Angeles.""

So, it is NOT Black Friday's fault. But we can deduce that it IS the hand-guns' fault.

Wow I bet it is because they forgot to post those stickers on the front of the store, you know, the ones with a red lined circled revolver. That could have saved lives!:p

Of course it is the handgun's fault. It is never the fault of the idiots who use it as an extension of their ego-driven rage.

actually if you read the story, it all started when the women that were with each of the men got into a fight......and this lead to the men getting into the fight and shooting each other..........so the moral is......dont carry a woman, its just too dangerous and somebody could get hurt

My take on this is that it's quite the happy circumstance - two gang bangers took the opportunity to rid the world of their malevolent presence and in so doing no one else was injured.

These two women had a problem with each other previously and just happened to meet up at the wrong place, and the guys just did the mahco, really stupid thing. Its probably gang related anyway. They don't have much respect for human life.

Yes I immediately fired off an email to Mr. Ferguson,( jim@jimferguson.com)explaining things from a different propsective. He has his own website. Most likely not di any good but it is always nice to let a politician know that you are watching.

Her is what I sent him

"Dear Mr. Ferguson
A quote from you was reported in the news paper as saying

"I think the obvious question everyone has is who takes loaded weapons into a Toys "R" Us?"

It seems to me like the obvious statement should have been "we are going to punish any one caught committing a crime"

I hazard a guess that neither party was in possession of a concealed carry permit. The shooting appears to have happened with out any ones life being in imminent danger. So multiple laws were broken. And need to be enforced.

Millions of people have concealed carry permits in this country. And carry there guns in and out of stores all day long with out any problem. People need the ability to protect themselves as this shooting shows. There were no police on the scene to protect the innocent bystanders as is almost always the case in incidents like this. The best people can do is run or hide and hope they don't get shot. So in situations like this people have to protect them selves from the violence of criminals. The US DOJ records show that honest law abiding citizens with concealed carry permits commit crimes and break laws at a small fraction of what the average person does.

If laws presently on the books would start being enforced more strictly would could get this sort of element off our streets, and have a safer society."

I expect to see a movie made about these two idiots.

I am totally baffled how two people can so despise each other that they run into each other in a ToysRUs parking lot, enter the store,a continuing disagreement continues where one says,"Blankety blank I'm going to kill you " and the other says the same.......

......and in front a families filled with mothers, fathers, and lots and lots of children....

....these two guys draw their weapons-mano-e mano like it's the Wild Wild West

.......and just start pumping round after round into each others chests until they are both dead.

What a wonderful miracle that none of those shots overpenetrated and bounced off a wall or piece of steel to kill someones child or mother or father.

But the kind of hate that caused the two to go at it like this.

That's World Class Hate.

Just absolute INSANITY.

Thank You Lord for watching out for the families at that ToysRUs.

What I'd like to know is how 21CFA got the backwards R in the post.

Me too, I've got the backwards font on my computer and can use it and my notepad and Word but how do you get it on the forum's font list?

It's possible that both men had concealed carry permits, we don't know. They weren't criminals out to rob the place, it sounds like they were shoppers low self control, who happened to be carrying guns, and got into a dispute. This might be badddd news for us.

PS- just out of curiosity, how did you plan to "punish" the two? They're already dead?

That's just it, we're talking about thugs and/or career criminals. Such people don't care about other people (families, children, etc.), all they care about is playing tough guy and maintaining their thug street credibility. It's a dangerous (not to mention stupid) game they play, and as this story shows it often winds up with someone getting killed.

What I find disgusting is how the media doesn't mention anything about these men other than they were armed. They want to portrait these men as average gun owners. They don't mention that the guns were being carried illegally and likely by two men with rap sheets. They want to use this incident to paint you and I as gun toting, wild-eyed mass murderers.

They ask the question, "who would carry a gun into Toys R Us?" Simple. I would, and do.

AMEN!

I offer duplicate thanks to my Lord that no other souls were lost in the "shootout." Even if it happened to me in my Right To Carry state, I would not be drawing down on either gunman; I'd be knocking every shopper within my reach down into cover. Y meня Pycckaя maшинa kotopaя nишиt no Pycckий. My kompюter writes in both Russian and English. " Я" is the last letter of the Cyrillic alphabet. I just plugged it in here.

What I'd like to know is how 21CFA got the backwards R in the post.

That made me laugh out load, so I looked up the solution after 21CFA's answer.....

я

Go to google, look up the Cyrillic alphabet, copy and paste...................ck

I don't carry a gun in Toys R Us because of two reasons:

1. At all of those stores I've seen there is a "No Weapons" sign making it illegal to CC inside.

2. I don't even step foot in there because of reason #1.

It's funny that you always hear about shootings at places where it's illegal to carry guns. What kind of person carries a gun into a place where it is illegal? Hmmm... probably the same kind of person that would rob/shoot/kill innocent people.

I was just in our local Toys R Us last week (twice actually) with my CCW and I didn't feel the need to shoot anyone.

I was just at one of these stores yesterday shopping for my sister's kids. There was a No Weapons sign, but it did not conform to the requirements under Section 30.06 of the TX penal code. Therefore it is not illegal to carry in the stores with a CHL--at least not in TX.

FYI,no private business can cancel your RKBA simply by posting a sign.
And you CAN yell, "FIRE" in a crowded theater if there IS really a fire.
Brink's guards carry weapons, and so do I. Also have badge close at hand.
