Guns in bars?

I could search for the answer but I'm being lazy today.
In Florida, what is the law regarding CC in a liquor serving establishment?
Thanks!:)

Probably a bad idea if you are going to have a cold one. In Texas you cannot carry into an establishment that derives more than 51% of its sales fron alcohol. The exception is if you are a Peace Officer or a PPO{ Personal Protection Officer} and you are protecting a principle.
Security Officers can also carry if their company is hired by the establishment.

SD is the same way. Ours reads "no onwe may carry a concealed weapon in an establishment that derives more than 51% of its profit from teh sale of alcahol" Which teh town cop said meant liquor stores and bars. eateries that serve booze are fine.

Rich has already answered Das Boot's original question

Modifying hoji's reply concerning Texas law, it is quite similar to the Florida law - - - law pertains to premises where 51% or more of income is derived from sale of alcohol for on premises consumption. Perfectly legal for a license holder to carry into a beer or liquor store so long as the shop does not sell "by the drink."

What if you own the bar? Its your place of business. Anything prohibit carry? Could you not authorize employees to carry? This is of course hypothetical.

whitebb, many state's shall-issue laws exempt the owners and employees of taverns from the no-carry restriction. (Of course, they cannot be intoxicated).

I like the Utah/Idaho laws that permit carry in bars as long as the carrier is not intoxicated. There's a bar in Moab, UT that has great burgers. When I'd get to my motel, it was nice not to have to leave the gun with the desk clerk or risk having it stolen. Instead, I just had a Sprite with my burger dinner and left.

Before anyone gets upset and starts talking about "what if's," remember that all of the arguments against concealed carry are based upon "what if's."

You obey the law, you get your permit. You break the law, you lose your permit. It should just be that simple.

Telling a Navy man he belongs on the beach is (was?) a serious insult.

The legal considerations aside, the issue of concealed carry and alcohol consumption can get pretty heated. It tends to be one of those Pro Choice vs Pro Choice things: some wish to choose for themselves, others to choose for everyone.

I, of course, am pure as the driven snow. At least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Hmmmm...

I think carrying a gun into a bar...ought to at least be thought about with the same caution and planning...as carrying a glass of whisky into a gun store. ;)

In Florida, you do not need a CCW for you or your employees to carry in your place of business, therefore the restriction against bars does not apply.
