Guns from India - some interesting models

I recently checked out a book on modern India from the library as I'm a history buff. So bored, I googled Indian and guns. I came up with RKBA forums, etc.

But this was neat - an Indian government gun factory and some models I've never seen.

For instance:

http://ofb.gov.in/products/data/weapons/wsc/3.htm

A top break 32 revolver - a 22 revolver and a 32 ACP semi.

Every once in awhile, someone asks who makes top breaks and here's one.

The world is a wide place.

That is a pretty neat looking revolver. I find two things particularly interesting about that link, the depth of description and that its made by a Govt facility.

http://ofb.gov.in/products/data/weapons/wsc/ in trying to find the directory, I found this, what looks to be a HP clone of sorts. Did you happen to find the actual directory? I would be interested in looking around at what they're making.

Wonder what the caliber is. They say .32 but 7.65x23 is a .30 luger isn't it? Looks Webley. Would be cool to have a brand new Webley.

I saw a Browning HP copy, an FN FAL copy, a Sterling copy, etc. Interesting stuff. Their main assault rifles reminded me of the Galil.

A Webley copy is a neat idea. Unfortunately, the quality of the Indian made revolvers apparently leaves something to be desired. A lot of info is available on the Indians for Guns forum. Since imported guns are banned in India, the government made .22 and .32 revolvers, and the .32 acp auto (a Broning copy) are the only game in town. I believe Indians are allowed 25 rounds of ammo per year for their centerfire guns.

When I was in India on business I visited a factory that forged frames for hand guns. I watched one of their machinists laying out the impression in a forging die...using a hammer and center punch. I remember wondering what the + /- tolerance was on that thing. India... An interesting place I very much recommend avoiding if at all possible.
