Guns don’t kill people dogs do. (or wounds them)
This last weekend a Labrador retriever named Trigger (not making this up) shot his owner.
The lady was out on a hunting trip when she laid her gun on the ground with the safety off. The dog followed her and stepped on the gun. The gun went off the shot her in the left foot.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
I feel that stronger controls are required. All dogs should be registered and require a background check.

I read the story too. Hate to sound like a snot, but the woman is a fool and a dangerous one at that. Anyone who puts down a weapon like hers and doesn't put on the safety is a walking cluster F***.
Good thing her Lab liked her and didn't aim a little higher.
Doc

I've owned Labs for over 30 years. She was warned. If the dog wanted to kill her it would have shot her between the eyes. She had better straighten up. :D

Better yet is to empty the chamber or at least open the action. I wouldn't lean a gun against a tree even with the safety on; too many bad things happen when you give Mr. Murphy a perfect chance.

Something’s wrong with this story,,,
I put a shotgun (empty) on the ground out back of my house and put a dog cookie on the gun.
My Australian Shepherd wouldn’t go near it.
I don’t think this was an accident.

I own a Boston Terrier and I'd be terrified of him associating firearms with biscuits. Because then my life would be reduced to being held at gun point while I drove around buying biscuits. If he ever shoots me it won't be an accident.
