Real Gun

New member
Google has begun with its hostility to anything gun related. If anyone has a how-to reload or run a press video on YouTube, I suggest you move it to another resource. TruTube.tv is developing and may be one alternative. Anyone know of others?

I have been using google to find gun related stuff w/o any problems.

It's early yet. Tell that to the gun site that was told that Google searches would not include the site in indexing and search results.

I already switched from Bing to Google for returning nothing when Google returned plenty of hits. There was nothing complex or unusual about the search. It happened to include some gun-related keywords.

Shopping Search is where it starts

It is apparent when you try and run a "Shopping Search" on Google.

If you type in any gun name, the only results you get back are for parts and holsters, not a single hit for buds, cheaperthandirt, or any other firearms retailer.

Or try and run a shopping search for "9mm 115 grain" - not a single result that is actually cartridges. Just a bunch of jewelry made from cases and watch bands.

Google's position is anti-gun. For now, their belief in the 1st Amendment is outweighing their dislike for the 2nd Amendment and they have said they will not censor web searches, but they will certainly not make it easier for you to buy things related to firearms. Bing (to my knowledge), still allows for shopping searches for guns.

I use the google search engine to find all types of guns and gun related things.
I never use Google shopping and never will... I agree it socks
If I want to find a part for, lets say a a Win model 1907, I type in "Win 1907 parts" and get plenty of hits.

Maybe this thread should be moved to "General Discussion" or a maybe a new "General Panic" forum should be created.

It really has nothing to do with the topic of this forum.

With all the publicity about how Google invades our privacy, why not use something else?
https://ixquick.com/
or
https://duckduckgo.com/
DuckDuckGo is my alternate.

duckduckgo uses a proxy that keeps your search anonymous, but is also an aggregator (pulls results from many search engines). It's a good alternative to the big names, if you want search anonymity and unbiased results.

The "9mm 115 gr" search, for example: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=9mm+115+gr

They don't have anything like the big search names' "Shopping" features, yet. But it isn't difficult to find what you're looking for.

I typed Glock 19 straight into Google - not shopping and came up with all kinds of sites with them for sale.

The OP is too vague and really not well supported. I don't like vague charges.

Thus, closed.
