Guns-and-babes question

Oleg Volk

Staff Alumnus
Recently, I found a great site which featured geeky Jewish boys just like me in various states of undress, all with good belt-fed or shoulder-launched hardware. http://www.boychiks-n-guns.il (may be inaccessible because of heavy traffic). I was so overjoyed atthe recognition, that I got to wondering if other people realize how lucky they are.

For example, what would DC, MissD and Otter say about http://www.guns-n-babes.com? Do sites like that make it harder for the rest of us to present the subject of RKBA seriously OR are they entirely harmless?

I am, BTW, in favor of not interfering with such sites. I am just not sure I appreciate their existence. Would you give a link to such as site from your page?

I do not want this to become a flamefest, just curious as to the attitudes. FWIW, my views on porn in general are somewhere between Heinlein's and L. Neil Smith's...
Considering that my own site contains an old variant of the same, I am not sure I ought to cast stones but then again...some folks express the same guns-n-babes'r'kewl'drool emotions in the real world and turn off potential allies.

Gee, uuhhhh, Thanks Oleg!! :D

I didn't know Guns-n-Babes exsisted.
Wow, my two most favorite subjects on the same website.

My feelings are: If ya' don't like it, don't look at it! For some reason I think a lot of other "Pro Freedom" people probably share the same sentiments. :)

Oleg, you're a few months late. Our old friend Jerky introduced us to Guns&Babes. He got generally flamed. But you are much more agreeable than was Jerky. Roon

'S funny

We accept pictures of nubile young women every day with fridges and stoves and laundry powder and cars and bikes ...

... but not guns.

Why?

Actually, the question formed in my mind when I saw a pro-RKBA feminist site and the second image on it was a slightly dressed woman with an AUG and spare mags in a puch.

Mind you, I have no objections or interest in the genre and my exploration of guns-n-babes was limited to getting an idea of what they are after (same as with EAA supposedely serious company site). I am merely curious as to the reactions of the allegedely oppressed gender (given that Q is of opinion that such imagery is degrading to all women and I don't quite agree).

The reality... It is sad...

My wife would definately not approve of Gun-N-Babes... That's cool... She never approved of the Car mags, and calendars with the hot rods & exotics and some bathing suit beauty sprawled across the hood...

Keep in mind, it isn't my gig either, but many males find it very appealing, along with Mens magazines like Maxim or the other well known periodicals by Hefner, and Gucionne.

The people who support this typically alienate one half of our society, and in this day and age, we can use that half. Just can't afford to loose the female support for our sport, and interests...

I have wondered for the longest time why Sex and Violence seem to go hand-in-hand.

Just recently it occured to me that they represent opposite ends of a spectrum.

At one end is the power to create life, and at the other is the power to destroy it.

Both suffer much abuse at our hands, although, as a society, it seems, that the abusive creation of life is much more acceptable.

I find both sites disgusting and reprehensible. I feel that sex is cheapened too much already in our culture. Now we've taken a wholesome pastime (guns) and have turned it into a "flesh-fest."

That's my NSHO- go ahead and flame me if ya want, I don't care!

"Liberty or death, What we so proudly hail... Once you provoke Her, rattling of Her tail- Never begins it, NEVER- But once engaged never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage. DON'T TREAD ON ME!!

Okay...the female perspective...

I couldn't access Guns-n-babes...(probably a good thing), but did get to the "wholesome" site HS posted. First of all, I don't know that you are going to alienate the female gunnies or potential gunnies...cuz most of us would never voluntarily go to those sites (now if they had men...well...)! They aren't my cup of tea, but I don't have a problem with men visiting them. As Outlaw said, if you don't like it, don't look at it.

Of course, hard core porn is another story...and another discussion all together!

I don't believe most of those women really know what to do with those guns...they are being paid to pose, aren't they? Or at least are posing for the publicity. Either way they are eye candy. They probably don't accurately represent the average female gunnie either (and that is not an insult to any of the women here...we know we are beautiful, and far more intelligent!!!).

So while those types of sites are bound to offend some...most likely they are not going to be your fence sitters...their minds are already made up on guns and other issues and we will have a hard time trying to change them. But we like a challenge, right?!

Bottom line...while I don't think sites like this hurt the RKBA effort, I'm just not sure they help.

Not my cup of tea. I wouldn't find semi-nude buff boys with guns particularly appealing either. As Otter said...they are models and likely don't know a damned thing about the firearms they have. I have a vision of some gal whining cuz she broke a nail on an M-60.

I wouldn't condemn anyone for looking, as its none of my business. But, I don't believe it adds to one's credibility in any intellectual discussion of RKBA, as it is a tad adolescent.

To quote Michelle: "Skin burns from barrels, how sexy!" I can see how an Israeli in summer attire (with the requisit Uzi and half-dozen extra magazines) can be nice to look at. Not so sure that a silly-looking bimbo holding at the wrong end of a gun would be all that enticing.

Anyway, I get the idea...

While I certainly enjoy both subjects, I don't seem to get much from them together. Maybe it's that the parts of my brain that enjoy them are quite mutually exclusive (love and tenderness vs. power and destruction) and are not used to getting in each other's way. Maybe it's also that the two together - some scantily- or un-clad babe with a rare machinegun - just is so unrealistic that it just falters: can I really buy the notion of a "where's my hairspray" babe clad in only cammo paint and an AUG? not...much as I try. Others observed that the models are indeed modelling: they are just following orders of "put this on and pick that up and make it all look good"...it's just so far from believable or convincing that it's just self-defeating.

Don't get me wrong...I came to the above conclusion by a very thorough and careful examination of every "guns-n-babes" and "gungirls" image...

Now, as Oleg observes, a babe in a local-climate-suitable suggestive outfit with an appropriate weapon and the attitude and skill to use it, now that might work.

"guns-n-babes" would be a lot more interesting if there was a gallery of Linda Hamilton shots. now that's my kind of babe; pretty, athletic, and can field-strip an M-16. she reached her apex in T2; totally buffed and no nonsense.

Funny. I was chastised by e-mail, had links deleted, and had my threads closed for having similar links (though non-nude) by the moderators. [I have a flaw of never forgetting and seldom forgiving; it will probably cost me a few years off my life.]

I don't think that it hurts us any more in the eyes of the non gun/anti gun folks than b*thcing about jack booted thugs or making fun of the president or Rosie.

Probably best not to post such links on this or similar boards. Some individual will always be offended, or someone will be afraid that it will offend someone else. Eventhough graphic (pornographic) Monica Lewinski jokes on this and other boards seemed to go over well.

There are some good naked chicks with guns photos on the web (better than the links and with 'real' chicks and 'real guns). Don't email me. I don't have the links.

Too funny Gwinny! ;)

Ok here's my opinion: I wouldn't exactly call guns n babes an 'informational' site unless you are deciding on which size implants to get. :D

Its just male entertainment, I really dont care if its there or not, I dont plan on visiting the site. Some will be offended by it some wont. Isnt it that way with most things though? You might not want to put it on a more serious site though. :)
