Over the next two days, 12 students will fire over 1000 rounds, one or two at at time, at each other in our first ever "Gunfighting Practicum" course. The rounds of course will be paint marking rounds, (Code Eagle), and our purpose will be to study what techniques and tactics are best used to avoid being shot, and getting hits on a real live human being. In most force on force exercises, tactics are first and foremost, and technique takes second fiddle.
In this class, while we will be studying tactics too, our primary motive is to study action v. reaction, and what a person can do in that split second of reactive time he has to do before bullets strike home.
Will report back next week and let you know how it plays out, and if any conclusions can be drawn.
