Gun value

Out perusing the local pawn shops today for lunch and ran across two decent long guns. Wanted to run them by you guys to check value/price as I can’t find them anywhere online. Let me know what you think would be a decent price.

1. Harrington and Richardson single-shot in 45-70 Govt. Long 28 inch barrel, drilled and tapped for a scope. Comes with rings. Clean bore, no rust, no scratches on the wood.
2. Revelation pump shotgun in 12 gauge. 28 inch barrel with poly choke. Mirror bore, no scratches, no rust, tight action. I believe this is a store-brand Mossberg 500.

If I remember correctly, the Revelation brand was sold in Western Auto chain stores. I seem to remember some made by Mossberg and I believe some by Ithaca.

We all have limited funds. What do you need? How much disposable income do you have for what you "want"? If your disposable income it greater than your needs including some savings, why ask us for permission? If that is a mossberg, look for a metal safety and twin action bars. The newest 500s have been cheapened.

RC, it's not a question of disposable income or available funds. I know what I can afford to purchase. Also, I didn't ask anyone's permission. I asked for an opinion of the value of 2 used guns, for which I can't find a reference point online.

44CK, thanks for your opinion. That's what I'm looking for.

Thanks, Bill. That's what I'm thinking but didn't want to go too high. The shotgun was priced at $300 and the 45-70 was at $450. A bit high on the rifle, but may make an offer on the shotgun.

38th edition of Blue book of gun values:
Only H&R in 28"bbl is the Shikari.
Model 155 Shikari: 95% @ $190 + 10% for .45-70

The Revelation would have another name stamped on it as well such as Mossberg or Ithaca as noted previously. Assuming Mossberg 500 variant, standard slide action field [mfg 1962 - 1998], 95% @ $185.

Hope this helps.

Been wanting a used .41 mag 7" bbl , preferrably stainless revolver for a few years now. Everyone currently wants $1500+ for a typical $900 piece. Not an issue, its just a "would like to have" , NOT a panic driven "I need it". Ill find one at some point.

The H&R is the break open, yes??
If its one of their Trapdoor Springfield repros, that a different matter.

Both were "budget guns" and yes while ASKING prices are crazy right now, its up to you to decide if guns that ought to be worth about $200 are worth more to get right now.

$450 for the rifle is dreaming, but as Barnum said, there's a sucker born every minute.

$300 for the shotgun is high, for a USED "store brand" Mossberg,

Just my opinion, asking prices are unreal right now. I think they're asking too much, especially for budget grade guns.

But some guy with no gun might pay that and be happy to have A gun...

I wouldn't...

44Amp, thanks for the insight. I agree asking prices are high for budget guns.
Didn’t see anything on the H&R indicating trapdoormSpringfield. Yes, it is a break open single shot.

...as for the difference between a branded Mossberg and Ithaca, the receiver should tell you. The Mossberg is a side ejection and the Ithaca a bottom ejector. IMHO.....The Ithaca would be worth considerably more.

One option is to do a history search on the various auction sites.
It will at least give an idea of what stuff has been selling for as well as trends.
