Gun Supplier to the Stars

This is a very interesting New York Times article about a very unique Gun Shop in Manhattan (of all places) that supplies just about any kind of unique gun for movies and TV.

This shop (The Specialists) has "a huge arsenal of weapons that has armed action heroes and their adversaries, fake armies and feds, and Tony Soprano."

It's an especially positive article, considering the source (NYT).

Thanks for the link.
It was an interesting article, if one ignores that it's only about guns that don't shoot.
And New Yorkers think the rest of the country is provincial?

Then there was this gem:

Mr. Washburn himself does not come from a military background, but his father was an avid shooter. Born in Arkansas, he said his father’s idea of a family outing was to go to the shooting range. “Everybody had guns,” he said. “People would borrow guns like you’d borrow a cup of sugar.”
I have nothing against avid shooters, of course, but what does that have to do with the throw-away comment about not coming from a military background? Why would one need a military background to supply primarily civilian firearms for non-military movies?

But ... it's the New York Times.
