Gun store fubar'd order. Help with Night Sights

Essentially I ordered the Glock 23 RTF2 w/ Night Sights. I received the Glock 23 RTF2 W/O night sights....

The owner agreed to install MeproLights for the difference in price (I paid for the regular one without realizing it). I called Glock up to double check, and they apparently haven't used Meprolights since 2003, and the Mepro's are $10 cheaper.

What I'd like to ask you folks is whether or not I should have him install them (for $10 cheaper, now that I realized the difference), or if I should do something else. This is my first pistol purchase ever, and I feel like I'm getting completely screwed.

Also, is there any difference in quality between the Glock night sights and the Meprolights?

The Meprolight night sights are better than the Glock factory night sights. The Meprolight sights are made of metal, where as the Glock factory night sights are plastic. I'd pay the gun store to install the Meprolight sights. They made a mistake, it happens, you are not getting screwed.

I wouldn't say they are screwing you necessarily, but if they made the mistake you should probably end up a little better off financially then if they had not, especially since this is going to result in some sort of delay for you to receive the gun. Not a lot necessarily, but I would expect some.

I prefer Meprolight night sights to all others, they seem brighter and last up to 15 years (according to Meprolight, I haven't had any go dim on me yet).

It's been quite a little journey thus far. First, they don't have it in stock (understandable), then UPS lost the package (comforting), then I get the wrong gun altogether. Ugh...

Well, I guess I should just take the meprolights and be happy. Given my recent luck, who knows what might happen next.

I'd go with the Mepro sights. I just put a set on my Sp101 and am very happy with it (aside from the fact it wasn't predrilled. What a PITA)

I haven't seen any on the Glock, but I am sure they are top notch, based on my Sp101 sight.

Key thing with night sights: you want a RECENT date of manufacture, not something that's been on the shelf a while. Tritium vials have a half-life of 12 years...meaning that's when they'll be at half strength.

I installed Meprolight sights on my G27. They are quality made and I like that the capsules are sealed on them. They provide an excellent sight picture in all levels of light.

It sounds like other than the inconvience of time, you're coming out ahead. You're getting better sights for $10 less. It's not like you can't use the gun just fine without them until the package gets delivered.

The Meprolight sights are made of metal, where as the Glock factory night sights are plastic.
All the factory night sights on Glocks I have, are made of metal and "Glock" marked.

Personally, I prefer the Meprolights over most of the others, and have replaced a number of "dead" sets of other makes with them on a number of different guns. Price has almost always been cheaper, and quality has seemed to be better.

Screwed? Not at all. An order mistake was made and the shop is correcting it and taking a loss on the deal to atone for the issue.

Don't get all bound up, it will all be ok. ;)

So..... yet another obstacle has arisen.

I set up a deal with the guy yesterday to come have the Meprolights installed today at 10am. I drive all the way to the store (30 min drive, btw) and....... they don't remember talking to me. SO, now they're calling around to find the part (they don't have one) and they're going to get back to me later today... or Monday.

This is not my week...

Talk to the owner of the shop instead of the part time help. If you are dealing with 2 or 3 different people, it's easier for things to get screwed up.
